In partnership with Temple Mount Sinai, the Interfaith Alliance, and the YWCA Racial Justice Program, EPHM presents, “Community Encounters,” an evening of dinner and dialogue. This community event invites participants to share a meal together, while also sharing their own stories, viewpoints, and perspectives, in an effort to build bridges of understanding with one another and to get to know our community in a richer way. Because, as Martin Luther King Jr. said, “People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don’t know each other; they don’t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.”
The theme of the evening is “Community Encounters: Standing Up.” This discussion will explore questions about being an upstander and not a bystander; what is privilege and how can it be used to help others; how can individuals ensure everyone has a voice and is heard. And EPHM, together with its partners, invites the community to bring their stories and perspectives to the table for an enriching conversation in an inviting and welcoming space on this relevant and pressing topic.
The format will be discussion based, with a table facilitator who will help guide the conversation along the theme. The table assignments will be lottery-style for each individual participant. There is no cost to attend, and dinner is included. Please RSVP to save your spot!
Thank you to all our community partners!
